Most of our members have insurance cover provided through their Mercy Super account for Death, Terminal Illness, Total & Permanent Disability and Income Protection.

With many of our members continuing to be part of the frontline in the battle against the spread of COVID-19 and starting to receive vaccinations we thought it would be appropriate to provide an updated on COVID-19 and your insurance cover.

An important point to remember is that the insurance cover provided through your Mercy Super account covers you for pandemics including COVID-19.

No. There are no specific exclusions for a pandemic or COVID-19 in the insurance policies supporting the insurance cover you have with Mercy Super.

No. There are no specific exclusion for people that receive the COVID-19 vaccination, your cover remains in place if you receive one of the approved vaccinations.

You are provided with worldwide cover 24 hours a day, so you are covered in Australia and overseas.

Important – exclusions for countries with “do not travel” warnings 

If you’re travelling overseas you should note that there is an exclusion on insurance cover for claims arising as a result of being in a country listed on the Department of Foreign Affairs & trade website that is subject to a “Do not travel” warning that was issued more than three days before you were in the country. With the global outbreak of COVID-19, there is effectively a travel ban on all overseas travel (exemptions apply). You can find out more here.
